Patricia Hagerman - Biography
Patricia Hagerman graduated from UCLA where she received a bachelor’s degree and teaching credential. She taught art at Temple City High School for four years and then taught arts and crafts in the Montebello School District for many years before becoming the Assistant Principal in charge of Instruction at Montebello Intermediate School from 1979-1992. She was involved with the Los Angeles Music Center Summer Program and the Getty Institute for art educators from 1983-1985.
After retiring, Hagerman began to pursue her own art making seriously. She first exhibited her work in 1995 at the Brea Civic and Cultural Center, Brea, CA and had her first solo exhibition in 1996, titled "Pressing Issues", at the Irvine Fine Arts Center’s Satellite Storefront Studio in Irvine CA. She became very active in the Irvine Fine Arts Center and was President of the Friends of the Irvine Fine Arts Center for two years. She was also a member of the Irvine chapter of the American Association of University Women and served as Cultural Chair, Women’s Issues Chair, and then president. She participated in No Limits for Women in the Arts for several years and was also a member of OCVA, which was the forerunner of SCA . She has been a member of SCAPG since 2007.
Patricia lives in Lake Arrowhead, CA where she has a studio adjoining her home and is continuing her art making. Her most recent work is a series in mixed media, titled "Between Earth and Sky", which was exhibited in May, 2009 at SCAPG.
